Took the boys to ToyLand today at Farm and Fleet. They have GOBS of tractor toys etc. (right up our alley) and a bunch of other cool toys that they only get for the Christmas season every year (esp. John Deere and Case IH). We did walk down every aisle (even the pink ones) just to say we did but we walked quickly through those ;) . We went and ran a couple of errands first, went to a quick dinner, and then headed on over there. ToyLand opened today but we didn't have the get up and go to get there at 5 a.m. (ahem) - so R decided tonight would be perfect!! I took a notebook so I could record their Christmas "wish lists" and wrote down ANYTHING and everything they wanted me to for their lists. I then took the boys to the baby clothing section to look around for baby J (*wink*) and R went and secretly bought their one most looked at toy and then one for them to share (all for Christmas morning) so they don't know what they're getting. It was SO fun because we didn't have to tell them "no" for anything and they were so excited - spouting off almost everything they saw...they had a great time. I think it was like doing a wedding registery where you scan anything you want so you "feel" like you got it - at least that's what it felt like for me :)) It really was a fun time (for us) because they knew they weren't getting anything (and didn't whine the whole time because we had to tell them no everytime they asked to have something - (toy shopping can be pure torture for a kid!) but were free to look at anything they wanted, push the buttons, and play with the ones that said "try me". All in all a fun experience - one I think might possibly go down as a "tradition" in our house since we don't do Santa Clause and they know their presents are from us, but we'll see.
