I have been well-wished "Happy 4th of July!!"...and I keep feeling like it's supposed to be like "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Easter" or something....It feels a little wierd saying "thank you" and such....Today is not a holiday that like our family celebrates in the usual spirit- one celebrating Jesus's birth or his death and ressurection. Today we are celebrating our freedom and the effort our men and women have put into (many dying) to preserve our freedom and the many blessings we enjoy as a free country. I am overwhelmed sometimes to think of these men and women (liky my brother-in-law specifically) who take their jobs as soldiers very seriously, with meekness, and fight selflessly in the Middle East for justice and freedom on our behalf. Many are leaving behind wives and children in the states, many more are leaving behind fathers, mothers, and siblings....My brother-in-law has his beautful, loving, and faithful wife and 16 month old twins at home waiting for him.
This country is very differeing on it's opinions on war etc. but it doesn't phase our brave soldiers in going out there and doing what they have to do. Like my brother-in-law they know they are there doing their duty, their job, and their part for our country. Last year I was overwhelmed at our parade back home crying tears (for the first time) in deep appreciation as I clapped and cheered for the veterens who walked together in formation down our main street. I have kids now, I have family fighting in Irag for my freedom and for yours...fighting also to make this world a better place for us and for our kids because our country has the resources and has been blessed to do so. The phrase God bless America makes me smile because...He already has!! So much so!! We might not be going over to Irag anytime soon or joining a branch of the military for that matter but we can pray that the Lord continues to bless our country with the freedom to worship, to speak, to choose our jobs, choose where to live, etc... My friends and family, we are truly blessed and our country is blessed by God with soldiers willing to pay with their lives to keep and protect our freedom and for freedom in other places in this world. So today I wish you a Happy 4th of July/Praise God for our freedoms/Praise God for His goodness and mercy/Praise God for our soldiers.....Have a great one!!! (If you need me I'll be the one clapping and crying as our veterens pass us by today my parade back home.) :0)
